Great Nutrition Article Every Women Should Read!

Another great article in the May/June edition of Women's Running magazine (in addition to the great training programs).

SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
1) Grass-fed Beef:  Beef has has levels of iron needed by women to boost energy levels.  Furthermore, it's noted that grass-fed beef, as opposed to grain-fed beef, has less saturated fats; more omega-3 fats, vitamin E, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) - linked to shredding body fat.
2) Pomegranate: Antioxidants help suppress pro-inflammatory compounds associated with joint problems.   Also, some studies found that ellagic acid in pomegranate may suppress breast cancer.

The other wonder foods discussed are almonds, canned salmon, lentils, low-fat yogurt, kale, and quinoa.

Wrapping Up

#Run 4.07 miles this evening (1:02:20, 642 cal). Got a late start this evening, and nightfall was fast approaching.

Goal was 7 mi (1:43:00) - sub 15:00/mil (14:43/mil), *Schedule was for a long run, 3/2, EZ- RPE 6. Will still attempt a long run later this week.

Found a great beginners' run/walk marathon training plan* in Women's Running magazine - May/June 2010 edition - week #1 [LR was on training schedule for Sat, but plan to run race (maybe 5K) this Sat].

PS: Didn't complete my full workout I planned for today - but at least I did do something.  The most important thing to remember - JUST GET MOVING AND KEEP MOVING!

Missed Opportunity

Well, I had good intentions - started my first planned workout for today (knee rehab exercises), but my brothers called me (back to back), so now I'm behind.  Got to run a few errands, but still plan to my workout (or at least some portion of it) before the day is over.

My First Post - Preparation

Getting ready to head out to a friend's birthday party.  But I thought I would make my 1st post.  Just spent the last hour or two preparing a training plan.  Used Active.com - the site has a neat free training log.  Can enter planned as well as completed workouts.  Made training plan for upcoming 2 weeks.  An old often heard quote - People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan.  When you write down your goals, it makes you accountable (to yourself) + you can measure your progress.

Well, need to wrap this up so I'm not (too) late for the party :).

See ya' tomorrow!
