15 in 15 - My Sojourn to Labor Day
With Labor Day just 15 weeks away, I have decided to start a new chapter on my weight loss journey. This will be a slow one, taking into account all the pit-stops and detours along the way (summer vacations, Independence Day, family reunions, etc.). With all these obstacles, I still want to - or I will - lose one pound a week. Not too aggressive a goal, is it? Surely not. I will start today's by hiking with a group of friends this evening to burn off some of these ribs inhaled and ice cold libations earlier today! LOL!

Getting in the work on the hills (5/19/2014)
This evening, I 'wogged' with my co-worker - and she really put me through my paces. We hit several hills, which I really needed. I used one of my smartphone tracking apps (Runtastic). The charts below (19:45/mile) were generated by the app - comparing these with my co-worker's GPS watch (Garmin, I think it's a 210) - 4.51 miles, 1:23:52 (pace 18:35/mile).

MONDAY'S MEDS: THE DOCTOR'S IN! (5/19/2014) - Battling Cellulite
When I saw this article on WebMD - "Can You Beat Cellulite?", I had to read it.
The author opens, acknowledging that every woman, regardless of size - and even some men, has it. That was somewhat re-assuring but disappointing, at the same time.
First, the article briefly explains what cellulite is and options for reducing it, improving the appearance of it, but not eliminating it. The article notes there is no cure - yet another disappointment.
How can you battle cellulite:
* Losing weight
* Caffeine and retinol
* Endermologie (massage)
* Non-surgical procedures such as machines that use lasers and radiowaves
* Surgical procedures such as Cellulaze
All these have the pros and cons - but all with one unmistakable fact - cellulite can be reduced, but it can't disappear. Hopefully science will find a way - :). Until then, you can learn more on how you can beat back cellulite, read Can You Beat Cellulite?
